| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Kevin J. Slater, who has been named the 2019 | ||
| Entrepreneur of the Year by the Odessa Chamber of Commerce; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An Odessa resident of 53 years, Kevin J. Slater is | ||
| the founder of Slater Controls, Incorporated, and Autrol US, a | ||
| distributor and manufacturer of industrial pressure and | ||
| temperature instruments; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He established these successful companies after | ||
| working his way through college and earning a degree at The | ||
| University of Texas of the Permian Basin; under his exemplary | ||
| leadership, these firms have expanded across the Southwest and | ||
| around the world, with locations in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, | ||
| and South Korea; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Slater is also active in a wide range of | ||
| community activities, including the Permian Basin International | ||
| Oil Show, Junior Achievement, CASA of the Permian Basin, and | ||
| Harmony Home; in 2017, he received a Distinguished Alumni award | ||
| from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A highly respected Odessa entrepreneur, | ||
| Mr. Slater has played an important role in the growth and | ||
| prosperity of the region's economy, and it is truly fitting that | ||
| he receive special recognition for his many achievements; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Kevin J. Slater on his exceptional | ||
| accomplishments and many contributions to his community and | ||
| extend congratulations to him on being named the Odessa Chamber | ||
| of Commerce 2019 Entrepreneur of the Year; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
