| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Lieutenant Fidel Jasso, who is retiring after 35 years | ||
| of outstanding service with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's | ||
| Office; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Lieutenant Jasso joined the Hidalgo County | ||
| Sheriff's Office in October of 1981; over the course of his law | ||
| enforcement career with the county, he has served with | ||
| distinction in a variety of divisions, including patrol, | ||
| criminal investigations, communications, the training academy, | ||
| civil, and warrants; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, he has handled the | ||
| unique challenges of law enforcement duty with courage and a deep | ||
| commitment to public service and the safety of his community; he | ||
| was instrumental in the creation of the Hidalgo County Crime | ||
| Stoppers program and in obtaining vital federal funding for the | ||
| addition of 49 deputy sheriff positions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A graduate of Pan American University, he has | ||
| received exceptional support, encouragement, and love from his | ||
| wife, Ester Herrera, and his children, Laura and Joshua; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An exemplary peace officer, he is respected and | ||
| admired by his colleagues and the public alike, and his presence | ||
| at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office will be greatly missed; | ||
| now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Lieutenant Fidel Jasso on his | ||
| exceptional service to the people of Hidalgo County and extend to | ||
| him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
