WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
recognize the members of the Cleburne Chamber of Commerce and the | ||
Cleburne Tuesday Forum on the occasion of their visit to the | ||
Capitol on March 1, 2011; and | ||
WHEREAS, The seat of Johnson County, Cleburne is located on | ||
the old Chisholm Trail south of Fort Worth; the city's early | ||
growth was due to the railroad; the city's nearby Cleburne State | ||
Park offers scenic recreational areas that can be used for | ||
camping, picnicking, and hiking; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Cleburne Chamber of Commerce held its first | ||
regular meeting on March 21, 1919; since that time, the | ||
organization has focused on the areas of industry and agriculture | ||
and has advocated for better roads for Johnson County residents | ||
and a wide variety of improvements aimed at the betterment of the | ||
Cleburne community; and | ||
WHEREAS, The chamber emphasizes the importance of giving | ||
back to the city and works hard to advance the economic, | ||
industrial, agricultural, professional, and civic welfare of | ||
Cleburne; the chamber encourages the growth of existing industries | ||
and businesses and assists new firms that relocate to the area; the | ||
organization currently has more than 950 members; and | ||
WHEREAS, The Cleburne Tuesday Forum is a nonprofit | ||
organization consisting of professional men and women who meet | ||
once a month to share information and exchange points of view; | ||
the organization was founded 40 years ago and provides a platform | ||
for the public discussion of a variety of issues that affect | ||
Johnson County; and | ||
WHEREAS, Both organizations are committed to improving the | ||
lives of area citizens and focus on economic development and on | ||
raising public awareness about relevant issues; the members of | ||
these organizations follow policies that reflect the needs and | ||
concerns of the people of Cleburne and the surrounding area, and | ||
their leadership and vision play an important role in the | ||
vitality of the community; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Cleburne Chamber | ||
of Commerce and the Cleburne Tuesday Forum on their dedication to | ||
their work and on their many accomplishments on behalf of the | ||
Cleburne community; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for these | ||
organizations as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
