| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the annual Smokin' Possum Cook-off as a Texas State | ||
| Barbecue Championship competition; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Held annually on beautiful Possum Kingdom Lake, | ||
| the event takes place every spring to kick off the summer | ||
| season; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The event is held in conjunction with the PK | ||
| West Fest, which draws several thousand people to the west | ||
| side of Possum Kingdom to benefit the local businesses in the | ||
| lake area; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and | ||
| over the years the participating teams have provided superior | ||
| cuisine, satisfying the most discriminating of palates; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the annual Smokin' Possum | ||
| Cook-off and extend best wishes to all associated with the event; | ||
| and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of the Smokin' Possum Cook-off. | ||
