	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 396
	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
	recognize Southeast Community Church of Houston, Texas, on the
	grand occasion of its 52nd Annual Appreciation Day, which is
	being celebrated March 27, 2011; and
	WHEREAS, Over the last 52 years, the Southeast Community
	Church has ministered faithfully to the needs of the citizens of
	the Sunnyside community, and due to the guidance and wise
	stewardship of its current pastor, Thurman H. West, the church
	has undertaken many worthy projects in the community; and
	WHEREAS, The church has provided bikes and toys to children
	at Christmas time and food and school supplies to the needy; when
	it was first established, the church began holding services in a
	small home; over the years, the church grew substantially and now
	has a membership of 400; after damage from Hurricane Ike,
	parishioners made repairs and refurbished the Sanctuary and
	Fellowship Hall; and
	WHEREAS, A wise and caring church leader, Pastor West
	serves as an invaluable source of strength to church members when
	they are facing hardships and difficult times; and
	WHEREAS, The observance of the church's 52nd Annual
	Appreciation Day is an opportunity for area citizens to celebrate
	its contributions to the community and to express appreciation
	for the support and inspiration it continues to provide them;
	now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
	Legislature, hereby extend best wishes to the clergy and members
	of Southeast Community Church on the joyous occasion of its 52nd
	Annual Appreciation Day; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	the church as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
