| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Dr. H. Randolph Bailey, who has been selected as the | ||
| Distinguished Houston Surgeon for 2011 by the Houston Surgical | ||
| Society; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Bailey is currently chief of the Division of | ||
| Colon and Rectal Surgery, Program Director Emeritus of the | ||
| Residency Training Program for Colon and Rectal Surgery, and | ||
| Clinical Professor of Surgery at The University of Texas Medical | ||
| School at Houston; and | ||
| WHEREAS, An honors graduate of Rice University, Dr. Bailey | ||
| received his medical degree from The University of Texas | ||
| Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In addition to his work at the university, Dr. Bailey | ||
| serves as chief of the Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery at The | ||
| Methodist Hospital and is a clinical professor of surgery at | ||
| Weill Cornell Medical College; he is a member of the board of | ||
| regents for the American College of Surgeons and has won numerous | ||
| awards, including Rice University's Distinguished Alumnus Award | ||
| and the Surgical Teaching Award from The University of Texas | ||
| Medical School at Houston; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Bailey plays an integral role in Houston's | ||
| surgical community, and it is truly fitting that he be honored | ||
| with this prestigious award; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Dr. H. Randolph Bailey on his many | ||
| outstanding achievements as a physician and surgeon and extend | ||
| congratulations to him on being named the Distinguished Houston | ||
| Surgeon for 2011; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
