SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 393
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the citizens of Brownsville in celebrating Brownsville
  Chamber of Commerce Day at the Capitol on March 8, 2017; and
         WHEREAS, Chartered as a nonprofit organization in 1937,
  the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce was established to promote
  the prosperity of local businesses and the well-being of the
  greater community; this year, the chamber is celebrating 80 years
  of service; and
         WHEREAS, Members of the chamber work diligently to advance
  the interests of 700 businesses through advocacy, leadership,
  and initiatives that help the businesses to succeed and the
  economy to thrive; and
         WHEREAS, The Brownsville Chamber of Commerce serves as a
  catalyst for the improvement of the civic, economic, and social
  welfare of the city and its residents; it has played instrumental
  roles in establishing such signature events and programs as
  Charro Days, Incorporated, the Sombrero Festival, and the
  Mr. Amigo Association, and it helped promote the creation of
  Texas Southmost College and the Port of Brownsville; the chamber
  was selected to host one of five of the state's Women's Business
  Centers, which were established with the mission of empowering
  women entrepreneurs; and
         WHEREAS, Today, the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce remains a
  driving force in the South Texas economy, and members can indeed
  take pride in their many contributions to the community and the
  state; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate all associated with the
  Brownsville Chamber of Commerce on 80 years of success in helping
  Brownsville remain a wonderful place to live and work and extend
  to all best wishes for a memorable Brownsville Chamber of Commerce
  Day at the Capitol; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the chamber as a memento of this special day.
