| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Greater Houston League of United Latin American | ||
| Citizens Council 4241, which is hosting Operations Freedom | ||
| Americana Human Trafficking Awareness Thru the Arts on January | ||
| 26, 2017; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The League of United Latin American Citizens was | ||
| founded in 1929 and is the oldest Hispanic civil rights | ||
| organization in the country; Council 4241 was established in 2014 | ||
| with the mission of addressing women's issues at the local, | ||
| state, and national levels; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Operations Freedom Americana Human Trafficking | ||
| Awareness Thru the Arts will offer a platform for citizens to | ||
| become more aware of efforts by law enforcement agencies to | ||
| eliminate human trafficking and of ways to aid in this essential | ||
| work; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This exemplary event will also feature an art contest | ||
| for high school fine-arts students, with winners receiving | ||
| generous scholarships; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Council 4241 has made a difference in the lives of | ||
| people across the region, and it is truly deserving of special | ||
| recognition for hosting this outstanding program; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Greater Houston League of United | ||
| Latin American Citizens Council 4241 on its commitment to civil | ||
| rights and extend to its members best wishes for a successful | ||
| Operations Freedom Americana Human Trafficking Awareness Thru | ||
| the Arts event; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
