SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 387
         WHEREAS, Essence Duplechain of Westbury High School in
  Houston was awarded a $25,000 Bridging the Dream Scholarship from
  Sallie Mae in December 2018; and
 
         WHEREAS, The Bridging the Dream Scholarship recognizes
  high school juniors and seniors who have excelled both inside and
  outside the classroom while also exhibiting strength and
  perseverance in the face of great challenges; and
 
         WHEREAS, A senior at Westbury High, Ms. Duplechain is in
  the top five percent of her class with a grade point average of
  3.95; in addition to taking Advanced Placement and dual-credit
  courses, she is a member of the National Honor Society, and she
  participates in cheerleading and track and field; following her
  graduation in May, she will become the first in her family to
  attend college, and she plans to pursue a career in physical
  therapy; and
 
         WHEREAS, A truly fitting recipient of this honor, Essence
  Duplechain has demonstrated exceptional ability and determination
  in working toward her goals, and she may indeed reflect with pride
  on all she has accomplished as she looks forward to a future bright
  with promise; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th
  Legislature, hereby congratulate Essence Duplechain on her
  receipt of a Bridging the Dream Scholarship from Sallie Mae and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be
  it further
 
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Duplechain as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas Senate.
