Whitson Etheridge | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the | ||
citizens of Conroe in mourning the loss of Whitson Etheridge, who | ||
died December 26, 2012, at the age of 95; and | ||
WHEREAS, Whitson Etheridge was born November 1, 1917; he | ||
received a journalism degree from The University of Texas and | ||
worked for a time as a writer and photographer with the San | ||
Antonio Light; he went on to earn a degree from the South Texas | ||
School of Law in 1952 and enter into the practice of law; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mr. Etheridge practiced law for 60 years and was | ||
known for often waiving his fees for those in need; he was a past | ||
president of the Montgomery County Bar Association; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was active in numerous community | ||
organizations, notably as a member of the Ancient Free and | ||
Accepted Masons and the Lions Club, and he was the author of Dad, | ||
What was it like in Conroe, a book detailing the history of Conroe | ||
and Montgomery County; a devout Christian who practiced his faith | ||
in his daily life, he was a longtime member of First Baptist | ||
Church and served on the State Baptist Executive Board; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and | ||
grandfather, and his wisdom, his generous spirit, and his | ||
enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will not be | ||
forgotten by those who were privileged to share in his life; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Whitson Etheridge; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Whitson Etheridge. | ||
