| WHEREAS, | ||
| WHEREAS, The City of Hewitt can trace its roots to a | ||
| community established in 1882 as a station along the Missouri, | ||
| Kansas, and Texas Railroad; the township surrounding the station | ||
| was later purchased by businessman John A. Warren, who named it | ||
| after railroad executive George A. Hewitt; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Situated on the rich Blackland Prairie, Hewitt | ||
| for many years served as the hub of a thriving farming community | ||
| that produced corn, cattle, and cotton, which was shipped to | ||
| market by wagon or rail; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||

| WHEREAS, Today, Hewitt continues to grow and thrive as an | ||
| exceptional place in which to live, work, and raise a family; its | ||
| people can take great pride in its history and progress as they | ||
| celebrate its bright future; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Hewitt on their many | ||
| contributions to the legacy of McLennan County and our state and | ||
| extend to them best wishes for a memorable Hewitt Day at the State | ||
| Capitol; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
