| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in | ||
| recognizing Reynaldo "Ray" L. Lopez on the occasion of his | ||
| retirement from the banking industry after a 48-year career; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This Brownsville native has consistently and | ||
| expertly served the banking needs of South Texas and is a trusted | ||
| leader in his community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. Lopez entered the finance sector in the | ||
| mid-1960s and steadily worked his way up through the ranks; he | ||
| was the president of the Brownsville branch of First National | ||
| Bank and a former director and vice chairman of Inter National | ||
| Bank; he remains a consultant for First National Bank in | ||
| Edinburg, which oversees $3.5 billion in assets; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This dynamic civic leader has managed several | ||
| local infrastructure projects; in 1983, he was appointed to the | ||
| Rio Grande Valley Municipal Water Authority by Texas Governor | ||
| Mark White, and as chairman of the Public Utilities Board, he | ||
| worked with the City of Brownsville to upgrade water and | ||
| wastewater facilities; he is currently director and treasurer of | ||
| the San Miguel Electric Cooperative; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||
| WHEREAS, A loving husband and father of two children, this | ||
| 71-year-old trailblazer and former Marine has been an exemplary | ||
| role model for his community and his family; his hard work and | ||
| community presence will be missed in the banking industry; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Reynaldo L. Lopez on his retirement | ||
| from the banking industry and extend to him sincere best wishes | ||
| for all his future endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| Ray Lopez as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
