SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 37
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Antonio Limas Hernandez on the occasion of his 100th
  birthday; and
         WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is well known for
  his wisdom and generosity of spirit, and he is a respected and
  admired citizen of Harlingen; and
         WHEREAS, Antonio Limas Hernandez was born January 17,
  1911, in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; he moved with his family to
  the Rio Grande Valley of Texas when he was seven years old; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez learned the value of hard work at a
  young age, helping his grandfather with a goat farm and milk
  delivery and later working as a laborer for several farmers,
  including Lloyd Bentsen, Sr.; he became a naturalized citizen of
  the United States and worked with the Texas Highway Department on
  road construction in the Rio Grande Valley; he met and married
  Maria de los Angeles Pena in 1932, and the couple enjoyed nearly
  50 years of marriage, raising a large and loving extended family; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hernandez continued farming until 1950, when
  he was hired by Bush Supply Company in Harlingen, where he worked
  for 26 years; since his retirement, he has devoted his life to his
  church, his home, and his family, and his sons will occasionally
  gather at his home to enjoy an evening of laughter and fellowship
  and to sing old Mexican ballads; and
         WHEREAS, In recognition of his birthday, friends and
  family are gathering at a celebration mass at Our Lady of
  Assumption Church and at a dinner and dance at La Casa Del Sol in
  Harlingen on January 15, 2011; a beloved and respected member of
  his community, he is noted for his courage, his compassion for
  others, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby recognize Antonio Limas Hernandez as a
  treasured citizen of our state and extend to him best wishes for a
  memorable 100th birthday celebration; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
