| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the men and women of the Texas tourism industry and Texans | ||
| across the state in celebrating February 23, 2011, as Texas | ||
| Travel Industry Day at the Capitol; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Known throughout the world for its hospitality | ||
| and natural beauty, Texas is a premier travel destination; in | ||
| 2009 alone, some $51.8 billion was spent by visitors to the | ||
| state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Tourism supports more than 500,000 jobs in the | ||
| state and plays a significant role in ensuring Texas' continuing | ||
| prosperity; and | ||
| WHEREAS, It is truly fitting that a day be set aside to | ||
| acknowledge the importance of the travel and tourism industry to | ||
| our state; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the men and women of the Texas | ||
| tourism industry for their many contributions to our state's | ||
| well-being and extend to them best wishes for a memorable Texas | ||
| Travel Industry Day at the Capitol; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of this special day. | ||
