SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 352
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Naval Air Station-Kingsville on the occasion of its
  75th anniversary, which is being celebrated the weekend of June
  30, 2017; and
 
         WHEREAS, Naval Air Station-Kingsville had its beginnings
  in 1942 as part of the nation's military build-up following the
  attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941; and
 
         WHEREAS, Land was purchased for the station in Kingsville
  and an auxiliary air field soon opened; pilots received training
  in aerial dogfighting, carrier dive bombing, and antisubmarine
  warfare, along with gunnery and artillery practice; in 1969, the
  auxiliary field was renamed NAS-Kingsville; and
 
         WHEREAS, Today, NAS-Kingsville is one of the United States
  Navy's top jet training facilities; it is truly fitting that this
  vital military installation receive special recognition as it
  reaches this milestone in its history; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby commend the officers, enlisted men and
  women, and staff of Naval Air Station-Kingsville on their
  commitment to the nation's defense and extend to them best wishes
  for a memorable 75th anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the station as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
