| Valdemar Gomez | ||
| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
| commemorates the life of Valdemar Gomez, who died December 24, 2014, | ||
| at the age of 93; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Valdemar Gomez was born on February 17, 1921, | ||
| in San Juan, to Febronio Gomez and Gregoria Medina; he proudly | ||
| served the nation as a member of the United States Army; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Jesusa, raised five | ||
| children, Bertha, Irma, Valdemar, Gilberto, and Cynthia; they | ||
| were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Known for his strong work ethic, Valdemar worked | ||
| at Sears and at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office; he and | ||
| Jesusa also managed Jessie's Flower Shop for many years, and they | ||
| were named San Juan Man and Woman of the Year in 2003; his many | ||
| interests included Cantinflas movies, western novels, and the | ||
| Dallas Cowboys; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he | ||
| gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued | ||
| counsel will not be forgotten; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He was devoted to his large and loving extended | ||
| family, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured | ||
| forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
| family of Valdemar Gomez; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
| Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
| memory of Valdemar Gomez. | ||
