SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 35
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Valdemar Gomez
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Valdemar Gomez, who died December 24, 2014,
  at the age of 93; and
         WHEREAS, Valdemar Gomez was born on February 17, 1921,
  in San Juan, to Febronio Gomez and Gregoria Medina; he proudly
  served the nation as a member of the United States Army; and
         WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife, Jesusa, raised five
  children, Bertha, Irma, Valdemar, Gilberto, and Cynthia; they
  were blessed with 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Known for his strong work ethic, Valdemar worked
  at Sears and at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office; he and
  Jesusa also managed Jessie's Flower Shop for many years, and they
  were named San Juan Man and Woman of the Year in 2003; his many
  interests included Cantinflas movies, western novels, and the
  Dallas Cowboys; and
         WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
  gave unselfishly to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued
  counsel will not be forgotten; and
         WHEREAS, He was devoted to his large and loving extended
  family, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
  forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Valdemar Gomez; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Valdemar Gomez.
