| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the residents of Houston's Gulfton community in celebrating | ||
| the dedication and grand opening of the SER-Niños Charter | ||
| School's new middle school campus, which is taking place March 2, | ||
| 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The SER-Niños Charter School originally opened | ||
| its doors in 1996; one of the first charter schools in the state, | ||
| it offers at-risk children a high-quality prekindergarten | ||
| through eighth grade education built around an innovative dual | ||
| language curriculum; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The school was founded on the premise that every | ||
| child can develop the characteristics and abilities to overcome | ||
| economic hardship and achieve success; in addition to a rigorous | ||
| curriculum, the school offers an environment in which good | ||
| citizenship and social responsibility are integral parts of its | ||
| programs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, | ||
| WHEREAS, The opening of an expanded middle school campus is | ||
| a reflection of the school's enduring commitment to preparing its | ||
| students to face the challenges of today's complex society; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the students, faculty, and staff of | ||
| SER-Niños Charter School on their dedication to excellence in | ||
| education and extend to them best wishes for a memorable | ||
| dedication and grand opening ceremony for the school's new | ||
| campus; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the school as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
