| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Dixie Little League and the citizens of Houston who are | ||
| celebrating March 28, 2015, as Dixie Little League Day; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dixie Little League has been a treasured fixture | ||
| in Southeast Houston since its founding in 1950; the organization | ||
| offers baseball and softball programs for children from ages four | ||
| to 18, along with tournament and instructional opportunities for | ||
| more than 300 children and their families each year; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The league is dedicated to building character, | ||
| courage, and loyalty in young people by providing fun, safe, and | ||
| challenging athletic competitions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through the years, this outstanding nonprofit, | ||
| volunteer-driven organization has received the support of | ||
| numerous local business and community leaders; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dixie Little League has had a positive impact on | ||
| the lives of countless young people; the organization in Houston | ||
| is celebrating its 65th anniversary, and it is truly fitting that | ||
| a day be set aside to pay tribute to its many contributions to the | ||
| community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Dixie Little League for its | ||
| exemplary work in providing athletic opportunities for young | ||
| people and extend to all those affiliated with the league in | ||
| Houston best wishes for a memorable Dixie Little League Day; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the league as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
