| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q Cook-Off; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers | ||
| Association as one of the organization's annual state | ||
| championship cook-offs, this fund-raising event is hosted by | ||
| the League City Lions Club; the annual event is held on a weekend | ||
| in May and has served as a financial resource for the club's | ||
| charitable initiatives for more than 60 years; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Festival guests enjoy local arts and crafts, live | ||
| entertainment, and the delicious wares of skilled chefs who are | ||
| competing in the cook-off; attractions are added to the festival | ||
| each year, and proceeds from the event help to support local | ||
| programs that provide specialized services for children and | ||
| seniors; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their charitable initiatives, | ||
| as well as their enjoyment of community gatherings; it is hoped | ||
| that many will attend the League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q | ||
| Cook-Off, as this spirited competition is organized on behalf of | ||
| truly worthy causes; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the League City Lions Club for | ||
| sponsoring the annual League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q | ||
| Cook-Off and extend to all participants best wishes for a | ||
| successful event; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the League City Lions Club as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
