SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 334
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  join the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System as it
  celebrates the grand opening of the VA Health Care Center at
  Harlingen with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony on
  February 25, 2011; and
         WHEREAS, The men and women in our military have fought hard
  for our country's ideals and its commitment to its goals; they
  put their own lives on the line to protect and defend our country
  and the cause of freedom around the world; they have made many
  personal sacrifices, and they deserve to receive the best
  possible health care services in an accessible location; and
         WHEREAS, The United States Department of Veterans Affairs
  recognized the need for an expansion of veterans' health care
  services in deep South Texas and approved the recent formation of
  a new health care system that will serve veterans in 20 counties
  in the Laredo, McAllen, Harlingen, and Corpus Christi service
  areas; and
         WHEREAS, In October of 2010, the VA Texas Valley Coastal
  Bend Health Care System officially became the Department of
  Veterans Affairs' newest health care system for veterans and
  their families; in addition to the VA Health Care Center at
  Harlingen, the system also offers services in four
  community-based outpatient clinics; and
         WHEREAS, The new VA Health Care Center at Harlingen will
  provide expanded medical services to all veterans in South Texas
  and will allow them to receive a wider range of services closer to
  their homes; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby commend all who have worked to help establish
  the VA Health Care Center at Harlingen and extend to them best
  wishes for a grand dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared to
  commemorate this important occasion.
