| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System as it | ||
| celebrates the grand opening of the VA Health Care Center at | ||
| Harlingen with a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony on | ||
| February 25, 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The men and women in our military have fought hard | ||
| for our country's ideals and its commitment to its goals; they | ||
| put their own lives on the line to protect and defend our country | ||
| and the cause of freedom around the world; they have made many | ||
| personal sacrifices, and they deserve to receive the best | ||
| possible health care services in an accessible location; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The United States Department of Veterans Affairs | ||
| recognized the need for an expansion of veterans' health care | ||
| services in deep South Texas and approved the recent formation of | ||
| a new health care system that will serve veterans in 20 counties | ||
| in the Laredo, McAllen, Harlingen, and Corpus Christi service | ||
| areas; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In October of 2010, the VA Texas Valley Coastal | ||
| Bend Health Care System officially became the Department of | ||
| Veterans Affairs' newest health care system for veterans and | ||
| their families; in addition to the VA Health Care Center at | ||
| Harlingen, the system also offers services in four | ||
| community-based outpatient clinics; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The new VA Health Care Center at Harlingen will | ||
| provide expanded medical services to all veterans in South Texas | ||
| and will allow them to receive a wider range of services closer to | ||
| their homes; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend all who have worked to help establish | ||
| the VA Health Care Center at Harlingen and extend to them best | ||
| wishes for a grand dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared to | ||
| commemorate this important occasion. | ||
