WHEREAS, Chief Michael R. Pool is retiring from the Mineral | ||
Wells Fire/EMS Department on May 1, 2021, drawing to a close an | ||
exceptional career as a firefighter that has spanned four and a | ||
half decades; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 1976, Mike Pool joined the Haltom City Fire | ||
Department as a volunteer; after becoming a full-time | ||
firefighter and completing his training at the Arlington Fire | ||
Department Training Academy, he distinguished himself in a | ||
variety of positions with the department, working in fire | ||
operations, emergency medical services, fire prevention, rescue, | ||
and training before retiring from the Haltom City FD in 2012; and | ||
WHEREAS, Since 2013, this esteemed first responder has | ||
served as chief of the Mineral Wells Fire/EMS Department, and | ||
under his leadership, the agency has grown and improved, | ||
benefiting from Chief Pool's emphasis on professionalism, | ||
training, and preparedness; he has led efforts to increase | ||
staffing and start a rescue program, and during his exemplary | ||
seven-year tenure, the department has acquired more than $1.7 | ||
million in grant funds; and | ||
WHEREAS, Chief Pool's certifications through the Texas | ||
Commission on Fire Protection include head of department for fire | ||
suppression and fire prevention, advanced firefighter, advanced | ||
fire inspector, intermediate fire investigator, and emergency | ||
medical technician, among others; he has also been licensed by | ||
the Texas Department of Insurance as a fire alarm technician and | ||
for fire protection-fixed systems; and | ||
WHEREAS, Mike Pool's dedication, experience, and | ||
commitment to protecting the lives and property of the public | ||
have greatly benefited the citizens of Mineral Wells and earned | ||
him the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters, and he | ||
may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks | ||
on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
Legislature, hereby congratulate Michael R. Pool on his | ||
retirement as chief of the Mineral Wells Fire/EMS Department and | ||
extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it | ||
further | ||
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be | ||
prepared for Chief Pool as an expression of high regard from the | ||
Texas Senate. | ||
