WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
recognize the affiliates of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic | ||
and Academic Development on the occasion of the organization's | ||
30th anniversary; and | ||
WHEREAS, Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic | ||
Development, also known as RGV LEAD, is a Texas nonprofit and | ||
federal 501c3 organization that promotes college and career | ||
readiness and encourages schools, community leaders, and | ||
employers to prepare students for employment and help them | ||
develop the skills and expertise that will prepare them to meet | ||
their scholastic and professional goals; and | ||
WHEREAS, Founded in 1992 by Patricia Bubb, RGV LEAD builds | ||
partnerships between education and industry to cultivate smooth | ||
and successful transitions between the educational setting and | ||
occupational and professional success; and | ||
WHEREAS, Throughout its existence, RGV LEAD has | ||
collaborated with school districts, colleges, and businesses to | ||
offer career guidance to its students and to equip students with | ||
the skills that will ensure them employment in the area's | ||
workforce; and | ||
WHEREAS, RGV LEAD has led the regional effort to improve | ||
graduation and college enrollment rates, to foster workforce | ||
readiness in graduates and to supply employers with an educated, | ||
skilled workforce; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the partners and | ||
staff of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic | ||
Development on their contributions to higher education and | ||
economic development in the Rio Grande Valley over the past 30 | ||
years; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
