SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 33
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize the affiliates of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic
  and Academic Development on the occasion of the organization's
  30th anniversary; and
         WHEREAS, Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic
  Development, also known as RGV LEAD, is a Texas nonprofit and
  federal 501c3 organization that promotes college and career
  readiness and encourages schools, community leaders, and
  employers to prepare students for employment and help them
  develop the skills and expertise that will prepare them to meet
  their scholastic and professional goals; and
         WHEREAS, Founded in 1992 by Patricia Bubb, RGV LEAD builds
  partnerships between education and industry to cultivate smooth
  and successful transitions between the educational setting and
  occupational and professional success; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout its existence, RGV LEAD has
  collaborated with school districts, colleges, and businesses to
  offer career guidance to its students and to equip students with
  the skills that will ensure them employment in the area's
  workforce; and
         WHEREAS, RGV LEAD has led the regional effort to improve
  graduation and college enrollment rates, to foster workforce
  readiness in graduates and to supply employers with an educated,
  skilled workforce; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th
  Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the partners and
  staff of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic
  Development on their contributions to higher education and
  economic development in the Rio Grande Valley over the past 30
  years; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
