| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the affiliates of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic | ||
| and Academic Development on the occasion of the organization's | ||
| 30th anniversary; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic | ||
| Development, also known as RGV LEAD, is a Texas nonprofit and | ||
| federal 501c3 organization that promotes college and career | ||
| readiness and encourages schools, community leaders, and | ||
| employers to prepare students for employment and help them | ||
| develop the skills and expertise that will prepare them to meet | ||
| their scholastic and professional goals; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Founded in 1992 by Patricia Bubb, RGV LEAD builds | ||
| partnerships between education and industry to cultivate smooth | ||
| and successful transitions between the educational setting and | ||
| occupational and professional success; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Throughout its existence, RGV LEAD has | ||
| collaborated with school districts, colleges, and businesses to | ||
| offer career guidance to its students and to equip students with | ||
| the skills that will ensure them employment in the area's | ||
| workforce; and | ||
| WHEREAS, RGV LEAD has led the regional effort to improve | ||
| graduation and college enrollment rates, to foster workforce | ||
| readiness in graduates and to supply employers with an educated, | ||
| skilled workforce; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the partners and | ||
| staff of Rio Grande Valley Linking Economic and Academic | ||
| Development on their contributions to higher education and | ||
| economic development in the Rio Grande Valley over the past 30 | ||
| years; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
