| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Elizabeth Chu Richter of Corpus Christi, who has been | ||
| named president of the American Institute of Architects for | ||
| 2015; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Elizabeth Chu Richter is a 1974 graduate of | ||
| The University of Texas at Austin School of Architecture; she and | ||
| her husband, David, founded Richter Architects the next year; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Richter Architects has grown to employ 15 people | ||
| and has designed such projects as the Congressman | ||
| Solomon P. Ortiz International Center, West Oso High School, and | ||
| the Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at | ||
| Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, which received a Brick in | ||
| Architecture Gold Award; the company also received the 2011 Texas | ||
| Society of Architects Firm Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Elizabeth Chu Richter has previously served as | ||
| president of the Texas Society of Architects and as regional | ||
| director representing Texas on the American Institute of | ||
| Architects board; her goal as incoming president of the institute | ||
| is to raise awareness of the ways architecture shapes daily life | ||
| and its profound impact on society; and | ||
| WHEREAS, She has made countless contributions to her | ||
| community and her profession, and it is truly fitting that she | ||
| receive special recognition for her accomplishments; now, | ||
| therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 84th Legislature, hereby commend Elizabeth Chu Richter on her | ||
| many achievements and extend congratulations to her on being | ||
| named president of the American Institute of Architects; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
