SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 32
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Navasota High School Rattlers football team, which
recently won the 2012 Class 3A Division II state championship
title; and
WHEREAS, The Rattlers won the school's first state
championship in football by defeating Gilmer High School by a
score of 39-3 in a game that saw them fall behind early before
scoring 39 unanswered points; and
WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great
talent and perseverance over the course of the school year; the
team was ranked first in the state at the beginning of the season
and finished with a perfect 16-0 record; and
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of a dedicated coaching
staff, the team developed exceptional teamwork and discipline;
team members can take great pride in their outstanding
performance; and
WHEREAS, Navasota High School and the people of Navasota
are proud of the Rattlers for their hard work, their impressive
skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend the Navasota High School Rattlers
football team on its successful season and extend
congratulations to team members on winning the Class 3A Division
II state championship title; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
