| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Bobby Waddle on the grand occasion of his 90th | ||
| birthday, which is being celebrated with a gathering of his | ||
| friends and family on June 17, 2023; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Born in 1933, Bobby Waddle is an esteemed Texan | ||
| and a highly distinguished veteran of the United States Air | ||
| Force; a lifelong member of the DeSoto community, Bobby has | ||
| dedicated himself to serving the people of Texas through his | ||
| exemplary civic leadership and his enduring commitment to public | ||
| service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A retired colonel in the United States Air Force | ||
| and an alumnus of Texas Tech University and the University of | ||
| Northern Colorado, Bobby Waddle has led an impressive 30-year | ||
| military career that includes serving as a fighter pilot and | ||
| flight instructor as well as in chief leadership roles in | ||
| education and training at the national level; with his background | ||
| in agriculture and his family's long history of ranching in the | ||
| DeSoto area, Bobby has also thrived in his professional endeavors | ||
| in the areas of business and farming, and he has generously given | ||
| back to his community over the years through his loyal and | ||
| untiring support of civic and community groups and through his | ||
| outstanding efforts on behalf of local government; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Bobby was elected to the DeSoto City Council in | ||
| 2001, and he served as the city's mayor pro tempore before being | ||
| elected mayor in 2007; he is widely respected and admired for his | ||
| steadfast leadership and wise counsel, and he has volunteered his | ||
| time and energy to benefit his community as a member of the boards | ||
| of local government councils, natural resource conservation | ||
| districts, and civic associations; his exceptional commitment to | ||
| serving the people of DeSoto and the residents of North Central | ||
| Texas is deeply appreciated by all, and in recognition of his | ||
| remarkable contributions to his community, the DeSoto Chamber of | ||
| Commerce honored him by establishing the Bobby Waddle Citizen of | ||
| the Year Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Bobby has been an active member of the DeSoto Lions | ||
| Club and the Texas Tech Alumni Association, and he has faithfully | ||
| served his church as a member of its administrative board; a man of | ||
| conviction, determination, and integrity, Bobby is a treasured | ||
| member of the DeSoto community; he is beloved by his family and his | ||
| many friends, and the most notable occasion of his 90th birthday | ||
| celebration is indeed a fitting time for them to express their | ||
| affection and appreciation for him; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 88th | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby pay tribute to Bobby Waddle | ||
| and extend to him congratulations on his 90th birthday and best | ||
| wishes for a joyous and memorable celebration; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of this special occasion. | ||
