Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of the late Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood; and | ||
WHEREAS, Peggy Wood was born on January 11, 1934, in Wake | ||
County, North Carolina, to Willie Russell Jeffreys and Janie Sue | ||
Myatt; she lived with her beloved aunt and uncle, Iris and Dave | ||
Dallas, during her teenage years; and | ||
WHEREAS, She and her first husband, Ashley Britt, were | ||
blessed with three children, Kevin Lynn Britt and the late Donald | ||
and Steven Britt; she later married Irvin Wood, and they were | ||
blessed with a daughter, Lisa Ivie Miller; and | ||
WHEREAS, She pursued numerous professional opportunities | ||
through the years, including owning and operating a Diamond | ||
Shamrock gas station and working with the Amarillo Globe-News; | ||
she especially took great pleasure in her work at the Amarillo | ||
Senior Citizens Center; and | ||
WHEREAS, After her retirement, she moved to Austin to be | ||
close to her daughter and her family; she was blessed with six | ||
grandchildren, who knew her as TuTu and who were a source of much | ||
pride and joy for her; and | ||
WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and generosity, she | ||
gave unselfishly to others, and her enthusiasm for living each | ||
day to the fullest will not be forgotten; and | ||
WHEREAS, She was devoted to her family, and she leaves | ||
behind memories that will be cherished forever by all who were | ||
privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Peggy Joyce Jeffreys Wood. | ||
