| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Dr. Enrique Perez for more than 35 years of outstanding | ||
| service with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Perez currently serves as the Cameron County | ||
| extension agent for Agriculture Programs for the Texas A&M | ||
| AgriLife Extension Service; a graduate of Texas A&I University, | ||
| he began his career in agriculture in 1979 as an agronomy | ||
| research technician in Corpus Christi; and | ||
| WHEREAS, In 1981, he began serving as an extension agent | ||
| for agriculture and 4-H youth programs in San Benito, and two | ||
| years later, he became the extension agent for Starr County; he | ||
| moved to Cameron County to serve as head of the agriculture | ||
| extension program in 1998; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Dr. Perez was instrumental in forging the | ||
| partnership between the Cameron County Master Gardener Program | ||
| and the Cameron County Commissioners Court that created an urban | ||
| horticulture arboretum that serves as an educational center for | ||
| young people and adults; he has also hosted the highly successful | ||
| Extension International Agriculture Program; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He has served on numerous state and national | ||
| committees and has received many awards for his work, notably the | ||
| State Distinguished County Agent Award for Career Level, the | ||
| highest honor given to county extension agents; it is truly | ||
| fitting that he receive special recognition; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Enrique Perez on his many | ||
| contributions to agriculture in our state and extend to him best | ||
| wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be | ||
| it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
