| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the Shriners of North America, the International House of | ||
| Pancakes, and Texans across the state in celebrating March 1, | ||
| 2011, as National Pancake Day; and | ||
| WHEREAS, National Pancake Day has become an important | ||
| method to raise funds for the Shriners Hospitals for Children, a | ||
| unique international health care system of hospitals dedicated | ||
| to improving the lives of children by providing pediatric | ||
| specialty care, innovative research, and outstanding teaching | ||
| programs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Shriners of North America is an international | ||
| fraternity based on the Masonic principles of brotherly love, | ||
| relief, and truth; the Shriners Hospitals for Children provide | ||
| exceptional care at no charge to children with orthopedic | ||
| conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and | ||
| palate; and | ||
| WHEREAS, International House of Pancakes will on this | ||
| special day offer its guests a free short stack of pancakes and | ||
| appeal to them for a donation to the Shriners Hospitals for | ||
| Children; it is truly fitting that these outstanding | ||
| organizations be recognized for their compassionate efforts in | ||
| helping young children; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Shriners of North America and | ||
| International House of Pancakes on their commitment to helping | ||
| the most vulnerable among us and extend to them best wishes for a | ||
| successful and memorable National Pancake Day; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of this special day. | ||
