| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the citizens of Waco in celebrating Waco Day at the State | ||
| Capitol on March 19, 2025; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Founded in 1849 as a village on the banks of the | ||
| Bosque and Blanco Rivers, Waco marked its 175th anniversary with | ||
| a yearlong celebration concluding in March of 2025; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The city remains a center of education, commerce, | ||
| and tourism and is home to numerous culturally significant | ||
| spaces, including the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and Museum, Waco | ||
| Mammoth National Monument, the Texas Sports Hall of Fame, Dr | ||
| Pepper Museum, and Cameron Park Zoo; Waco is also renowned for | ||
| such higher education institutions as Baylor University, | ||
| McLennan Community College, Tarleton State University's Waco | ||
| campus, and Texas State Technical College; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Visitors and residents alike enjoy premier | ||
| shopping and dining opportunities as well as natural attractions | ||
| and recreational activities on the Brazos and Bosque Rivers, Lake | ||
| Waco, and at the city's many parks, which showcase the scenic | ||
| beauty of live oaks, Spanish oaks, and cedar elms; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Citizens of Waco may take great pride in their | ||
| city's rich history and dynamic growth that make it a vital part | ||
| of the Lone Star State, and Waco Day provides a welcome | ||
| opportunity for all to celebrate this outstanding community as it | ||
| looks ahead to an even brighter future; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 89th | ||
| Legislature, hereby recognize March 19, 2025, as Waco Day at the | ||
| Capitol and extend to the people of Waco best wishes for a | ||
| memorable 175th anniversary celebration; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the visiting delegation in honor of this occasion. | ||
