| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join the Texas Historical Commission in recognizing McBride's | ||
| Guns, which has been named a recipient of the Texas Treasure | ||
| Business Award; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This prestigious award honors companies that have | ||
| been in continuous and substantially similar independent | ||
| operation in the state for at least 50 years with an | ||
| uninterrupted employment history and good standing with the | ||
| state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Jack McBride and his wife, Mildred, opened | ||
| McBride's Guns on January 1, 1960; through the years, the | ||
| establishment has been known for its emphasis on superior | ||
| customer service and its extensive inventory of firearms and | ||
| other sporting goods; it also offers a unique selection of | ||
| antique and collectable firearms and provides full gunsmithing | ||
| services; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The business has given back to the Austin | ||
| community in a variety of ways, notably through the creation of a | ||
| nonprofit conservation foundation dedicated to passing on the | ||
| heritage of the outdoors to succeeding generations; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The success of McBride's Guns has played an | ||
| important role in the growth and progress of our state, and it is | ||
| truly fitting that this exceptional enterprise be recognized for | ||
| its resilience, its longevity, and its many outstanding | ||
| contributions to the community it serves; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, hereby commend McBride's Guns on receiving the | ||
| Texas Treasure Business Award and extend best wishes for | ||
| continued success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
