| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Texas PTA for its 106 years of dedicated efforts on | ||
| behalf of the children of this state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This outstanding organization strives to make | ||
| every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering | ||
| families and communities to advocate for all children; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Since it was founded by Ella Caruthers Porter on | ||
| October 19, 1909, this outstanding association has been at the | ||
| forefront in supporting the health, education, and well-being of | ||
| our state's children and serving as a vital resource for parents, | ||
| teachers, school administrators, and community leaders; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texas PTA is half a million members strong and has | ||
| a presence on nearly 3,000 campuses statewide; its state headquarters | ||
| are located in the heart of downtown Austin near the Capitol; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texas PTA is capably and admirably led by President | ||
| Leslie Boggs of Odessa, a volunteer, mother of three, and grandmother | ||
| of four; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Texas PTA will continue to be a voice for all | ||
| children to ensure that Texas' students are the best and | ||
| brightest and that the Lone Star State will be the premier place | ||
| to raise and educate families; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend President Boggs and members of Texas | ||
| PTA for the important work they have done on behalf of the young | ||
| people of this state and extend to them best wishes for continued | ||
| good work well into the next century; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as an | ||
| expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
