| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Grandview High School Zebras varsity football | ||
| team, which recently won the Class 3A Division I state | ||
| championship title; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Grandview Zebras were victorious in their | ||
| first appearance at the state finals, defeating the Malakoff | ||
| Tigers by a score of 35-21 in a hard-fought game on December 20, | ||
| 2018; and | ||
| WHEREAS, These young athletes have demonstrated great | ||
| talent and perseverance throughout the school year, and team | ||
| members can take pride in their outstanding performance; and | ||
| WHEREAS, With the exceptional guidance of head coach Brad | ||
| Davis and assistant coach Ryan Ebner and the additional | ||
| leadership and support of team captains Brody Smith and Garrett | ||
| Phelps, the Zebras have developed exceptional teamwork and | ||
| discipline; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Grandview High School and the City of Grandview | ||
| are proud of the Zebras for their hard work, their impressive | ||
| skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Grandview High School Zebras | ||
| varsity football team on their successful season and | ||
| congratulate them on winning the Class 3A Division I state | ||
| championship; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the team as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
