SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 233
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Leon Bence
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
  citizens of Harlingen in mourning the loss of Leon Bence, who
  died March 24, 2010, at the age of 71; and
         WHEREAS, Leon Bence was born April 28, 1938, in Mattoon,
  Illinois; he was preceded in death by his parents and his two
  sisters; and
         WHEREAS, A man of many talents and interests, Mr. Bence
  worked with Lloyd Bentsen, Sr., of Mission and L&B Partnership
  for over 35 years; and
         WHEREAS, He was also dedicated to his work as a real estate
  developer in the Rio Grande Valley and as the owner of Bence
  Nursery of Harlingen; and
         WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, he was well liked in his
  community and was respected for his many accomplishments; and
         WHEREAS, A source of strength to his family and friends, he
  gave unselfishly of his time to others, and he was devoted to his
  wife of 52 years and to his sons and granddaughter; and
         WHEREAS, Leon Bence was beloved for his warmth and generous
  nature, and he will long be remembered with affection and
  appreciation by all who were fortunate to share in his life; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Leon Bence: his wife, Linda Lee Bence; his sons and
  daughter-in-law, Leon Scott Bence and Travis Lee Bence and Sheila;
  and his granddaughter, Ava Linda Bence; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy
  from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this
  day, it do so in memory of Leon Bence.
