| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the members of Leadership Keller on the occasion of | ||
| their visit to Austin and the State Capitol on February 17 and 18, | ||
| 2011; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Leadership Keller is an eight-month program that | ||
| brings together a small group of area professionals for an | ||
| intensive study of the various aspects of the Keller community; | ||
| and | ||
| WHEREAS, The goals of this outstanding program include | ||
| providing participants with a unique educational experience and | ||
| helping them to develop their leadership skills; the program also | ||
| aims to motivate emerging leaders and help them to acquire a | ||
| working knowledge of the community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Participants take backstage and behind-the-scenes | ||
| tours of local schools, hospitals, community service agencies, | ||
| city offices, entertainment venues, and police and fire | ||
| departments to learn about the different sectors of the | ||
| community; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The program also includes meetings with local | ||
| officials and political leaders and a trip to Austin, where | ||
| participants meet with elected leaders, state personnel, and | ||
| agency department heads; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Through the Leadership Keller program, participants | ||
| learn about the inner workings of private and public institutions | ||
| and discover ways in which they can most effectively contribute | ||
| to the betterment of their community; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Leadership Keller for its innovative | ||
| and thorough approach to preparing citizens for prominent roles | ||
| in their community; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the group as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
