SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 222
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been
enhanced by a great and enduring love, Doyle and Judy Hughes of
Lake Holbrook celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on
July 6, 2016; and
WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hughes were united in matrimony at a
ceremony held in Irving in 1966; over the years, their family has
grown to include their four sons, Rudy, Scotty, Chad, and Quincy,
as well as their six grandchildren and
seven great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Hughes
retired from both the LTV Corporation and Lockheed Martin, and
Mrs. Hughes worked for Abbott Laboratories in Irving; in their
leisure time, they enjoy fishing and working in their yard; and
WHEREAS, While much has changed in the world over the past
half century, this devoted husband and wife have remained
constant in their commitment to each other, and the strength of
their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges and
opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby congratulate Doyle and Judy Hughes on their
50th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes
for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the couple as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
