| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Antonia R. Arias on the grand occasion of her 90th | ||
| birthday; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Known affectionately to her family as Toni, this | ||
| gracious lady is well known for her charm and generosity of | ||
| spirit, and she is a revered resident of our state; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Antonia R. Arias was born January 17, 1921, to | ||
| Milton and Concepcion Arias; she graduated from Sidney Lanier | ||
| High School in 1939 and worked for 30 years at Kelly Air Force | ||
| Base in the Directorate of Material Management, retiring as a | ||
| cataloging specialist; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Blessed with athletic and competitive skills, she | ||
| has participated in softball and bowling leagues, and she has | ||
| taught four generations of Canasta players in her family the fine | ||
| art of winning; gregarious and outgoing, she is always ready and | ||
| eager to dress in her matching best and attend a social | ||
| gathering; and | ||
| WHEREAS, From helping to raise her many younger siblings to | ||
| caring for her parents at the end of their lives, she has been an | ||
| indispensable part of her large and loving extended family, | ||
| supporting and nurturing them with her devotion and her love; and | ||
| WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, | ||
| she is noted for her courage and strength, her wit, and her | ||
| enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; now, therefore, be | ||
| it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, hereby recognize Antonia R. Arias as a treasured | ||
| citizen of our state and extend to her best wishes for a memorable | ||
| 90th birthday; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. | ||
