SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 21
         WHEREAS, Community colleges play an increasingly important
  role in higher education in the State of Texas, and on February 7,
  2017, Texas community college students, administrators, and
  instructors are gathering at the State Capitol; and
 
         WHEREAS, Community college leaders, students, trustees,
  members of the Texas Association of Community Colleges, and the
  Community College Association of Texas Trustees have joined
  together to discuss the essential contributions their schools
  make to the state; and
 
         WHEREAS, The total annual enrollment for Texas community
  and technical colleges exceeds 700,000 students, accounting for
  almost half of the state's postsecondary population and the
  largest sector of higher education; and
 
         WHEREAS, The community colleges of Texas clearly serve a
  vital function in the education and economic development of the
  state, and it is indeed a pleasure to welcome these outstanding
  students, instructors, trustees, and administrators to Austin;
  now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby recognize February 7, 2017, as Community
  College Day at the State Capitol and extend to all the participants
  sincere best wishes for a memorable and productive visit.
