| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the citizens of Houston who are participating in the | ||
| 19th Annual Texas Lunar New Year Festival, which is being held on | ||
| February 21, 2015, at Discovery Green in downtown Houston; and | ||
| WHEREAS, This exceptional event was founded by the | ||
| Southern News Group, which has become the largest Asian media | ||
| organization in the southwestern United States; the festival | ||
| celebrates the Chinese New Year, and the year beginning in 2015 | ||
| is the Year of the Sheep; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Each year, the Texas Lunar New Year Festival | ||
| brings together people of all ethnic backgrounds and | ||
| nationalities to enjoy a wide range of cultural offerings; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas Lunar New Year Festival has for nearly | ||
| two decades played a vital role in highlighting the region's | ||
| diversity and culture, and it is truly deserving of special | ||
| recognition; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 84th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors and organizers of the | ||
| 19th Annual Texas Lunar New Year Festival and extend best wishes | ||
| for success to all those involved with this exemplary event; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in | ||
| honor of this special occasion. | ||
