| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Colonel Adrian B. Nettles, who is retiring after a | ||
| distinguished 31-year career in the United States Army and the | ||
| Texas Army National Guard; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles is retiring from the position of | ||
| general counsel for the Texas Army National Guard Joint Force | ||
| Headquarters, where he served as the principal legal advisor for | ||
| intelligence oversight and policy and regulation interpretation; | ||
| he also assisted with legislative affairs at the Joint Force | ||
| Headquarters; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He received his commission as an officer in 1985 | ||
| through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Texas A&M | ||
| University; he went on to earn a juris doctor degree from the | ||
| South Texas College of Law; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Colonel Nettles had four overseas deployments, | ||
| beginning in 2000 in Bosnia, where he served as a chief of | ||
| international and operational law; he went on to serve in three | ||
| additional combat deployments, one in Afghanistan and two in | ||
| Iraq; while in Iraq, he was appointed as deputy Red Team chief for | ||
| General Raymond T. Odierno; and | ||
| WHEREAS, His many awards and decorations include the | ||
| Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star Medal with two oak leaf | ||
| clusters, the Purple Heart, and the United States Congressional | ||
| Veterans Commendation Award; he is truly deserving of special | ||
| recognition for his courage and sacrifice on behalf of our | ||
| nation's ideals and principles; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Colonel Adrian B. Nettles on his | ||
| outstanding service and dedication to duty and extend to him | ||
| best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, | ||
| be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
