SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 203
In Memory
of
Tommie Lou Cosby
WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Tommie
Lou Cosby of Holly Lake Ranch, who passed away on
September 19, 2016, at the age of 77; and
WHEREAS, The daughter of Pete and Delores Shoemaker, the
former Tommie Shoemaker was born in Crow on August 3, 1939, and
grew up with the companionship of two brothers; she was joined in
marriage to Wayne Cosby, and over the years, the couple were
blessed with a fine family that included three children and four
granddaughters; and
WHEREAS, Engaged in her community, Mrs. Cosby served as a
member of the board of Cedars Memorial Gardens in Mineola, as
East Texas director of Concerned Women for America, as a Girl
Scout leader, and as a softball coach; she was also a valued
congregant of Holly Brook Baptist Church in Hawkins, where she
taught Sunday school; and
WHEREAS, Gifted with great beauty and charm as well as a
genuine concern for others, Tommie Cosby leaves behind a legacy
of devotion to her family and community that will continue to
inspire all those who knew and loved her; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Tommie Lou Cosby
and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family: to
her husband, Wayne Cosby; to her children, David Cosby, Danny
Cosby, and Debra Lane; to her brothers, Larry and John Shoemaker;
to her four granddaughters; and to her other relatives and many
friends; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
so in memory of Tommie Lou Cosby.
