| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai, who recently retired | ||
| after more than two decades of outstanding service with the | ||
| United States Navy and the United States Navy Reserve; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Chief Tai enlisted in the United States Navy in | ||
| 1992 and completed his recruit training in Orlando, Florida; | ||
| after his graduation from Personnelman "A" School, he served | ||
| aboard the USS George Washington and was deployed to various | ||
| ports around the world, including ports in the Mediterranean and | ||
| Adriatic Seas and in the Persian and Arabian Gulfs; and | ||
| WHEREAS, After his separation from active duty, he | ||
| continued to serve his country by joining the United States Navy | ||
| Reserve; his reserve duty history includes time spent with the | ||
| Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command and with the SEAL | ||
| Delivery Vehicle Team 2; he was recalled to active duty in 2003 | ||
| and served for two years in support of the Commander of the United | ||
| States Naval Forces in Europe; and | ||
| WHEREAS, His awards and decorations include the Navy | ||
| Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal, and the Naval | ||
| Reserve Meritorious Service Medal; while serving as a reservist, | ||
| he earned a bachelor's degree from Texas State University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Chief Tai has served the nation with distinction, | ||
| and it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for | ||
| his outstanding military career; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend Chief Petty Officer Eugene Tai on his | ||
| exceptional military service and extend to him best wishes for | ||
| continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
