| WHEREAS, When they married many years ago, Lou and Jim | ||
| "Corky" Dawson placed great faith and trust in one another, and | ||
| they have been amply rewarded, as they are celebrating their 50th | ||
| wedding anniversary; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Lou and Corky Dawson were married on January 21, | ||
| 1967, after a whirlwind romance and short engagement; they had | ||
| met one another on a blind date in the fall of 1966 at West Texas | ||
| State University; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Dawson enjoyed productive careers in | ||
| education, he as a coach and she as a teacher, before launching a | ||
| successful Shaklee business; they went on to establish a thriving | ||
| State Farm Insurance agency in Canyon that set numerous sales | ||
| records and received multiple awards; they retired and moved to | ||
| Granbury in 2003; and | ||
| WHEREAS, They have been blessed with a wonderful family; | ||
| their sons, Jimmy Don, John David, and Joe De, and their seven | ||
| grandchildren have been a source of much pride and joy; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their | ||
| love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and | ||
| sorrows of everyday living; the long and happy union of Lou and | ||
| Corky Dawson is truly an inspiration to others; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to Lou and Jim Dawson | ||
| on their 50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| this distinguished couple as an expression of esteem from the | ||
| Texas Senate. | ||
