SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 187
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
  recognize Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church as it installs the
  Reverend Edward V. Lightfoot as its new pastor on
  February 17, 2013; and
 
         WHEREAS, This illustrious minister is the son of the
  Reverend James E. Lightfoot, the much beloved founding pastor of
  Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Houston; and
 
         WHEREAS, A devoted preacher and community servant, the
  Reverend Edward Lightfoot will have the distinct honor of being
  the second pastor in the congregation's 45-year history; and
 
         WHEREAS, With respect for the church's past and enthusiasm
  for a bright future, worshippers proudly usher in the younger
  Reverend Lightfoot; he will be installed in a service attended by
  such distinguished guests as the Reverend Ralph D. West and the
  members of the Church Without Walls; and
 
         WHEREAS, This dedicated congregation embraces the incoming
  Reverend Lightfoot as he embarks on a journey to continue his
  father's pastoral legacy; the church eagerly looks forward to a
  new beginning through the younger reverend and places its faith
  in his integrity and his ability to lead; now, therefore, be it
 
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
  83rd Legislature, hereby commend Mount Zion Missionary Baptist
  Church on the occasion of its installation of new pastor Edward
  V. Lightfoot; and, be it further
 
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  the congregation as an expression of high regard from the Texas
  Senate.
