| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| join Texans across the state in celebrating February 14, 2017, | ||
| as Texas Council on Family Violence Day at the Capitol; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas Council on Family Violence is a nationally | ||
| recognized leader in the efforts to end family violence through | ||
| organizational partnerships, advocacy, and direct services for | ||
| women, children, and men; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Established in 1978, the Texas Council on Family | ||
| Violence is a nonprofit coalition of organizations and individuals | ||
| united in an effort to promote safe and healthy relationships; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The council offers education, training, and | ||
| technical assistance to support service providers for victims | ||
| of family violence, facilitates strategic prevention efforts, | ||
| and works to influence public policy as a unified voice before | ||
| the Texas Legislature; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Texas Council on Family Violence has had a | ||
| profound impact on the lives of countless citizens throughout | ||
| the state, and it is truly fitting that a day be set aside to | ||
| recognize its many achievements; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend the Texas Council on Family Violence | ||
| on its exemplary efforts to end domestic violence and extend to | ||
| its members best wishes for a productive and memorable Texas | ||
| Council on Family Violence Day at the Capitol; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the council as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
