Christopher Eugene Luttrell | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Christopher Eugene Luttrell, who died | ||
December 17, 2020, at the age of 46; and | ||
WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Chris Luttrell was born on | ||
September 9, 1974; he was an active child, and in school, he | ||
enjoyed theater and playing football; from a young age, his kind | ||
nature and genuine love for people were evident, and these | ||
qualities enabled him to find joy and fulfillment in all of his | ||
endeavors throughout his life; and | ||
WHEREAS, Chris determined his purpose in life was to enter | ||
the field of law enforcement, and he went on to forge a successful | ||
career that included serving as a member of the Burleson County | ||
Sheriff's Department, the Caldwell Police Department, and the | ||
University of Houston Campus Police Department; and | ||
WHEREAS, In 2014, he began serving as an officer for the | ||
Blinn College Police Department on the Brenham campus, where he | ||
was known for his friendly and engaging personality and for his | ||
dedication to helping students learn to build positive | ||
relationships with law enforcement officers; he taught classes | ||
on sexual violence prevention and was proud of his work with the | ||
Sexual Assault Resource Center, and in 2018, the center | ||
recognized him as Officer of the Year; and | ||
WHEREAS, Officer Luttrell placed great value in education, | ||
and he served the community as a member of the board of the Caldwell | ||
Independent School District; he is credited with initiating the | ||
Explorer Program at Caldwell High School to promote positive | ||
relationships between students and law enforcement, and he played a | ||
key role in establishing the Caldwell Police Department's K-9 | ||
program; and | ||
WHEREAS, A devoted family man, Chris cherished time spent | ||
with his beloved wife, Erin Kasey Hughes, and he found great joy | ||
in creating special memories with each of their six children; he | ||
was a treasured member of his community, and he will long be | ||
remembered with great respect and admiration by all who were | ||
privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved | ||
family of Christopher Eugene Luttrell; and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Chris Luttrell. | ||
