| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize B. R. "Skipper" Wallace, who is stepping down as chair | ||
| of the Lampasas County Republican Party after 28 years of | ||
| exceptional service; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Skipper Wallace became chair of the Lampasas | ||
| County Republican Party in 1991; at the time, no Republicans held | ||
| elected office in the county, and the county had also gone | ||
| without representation at Texas Republican Conventions; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Under Mr. Wallace's leadership, the party began | ||
| to sponsor precinct and county conventions and to elect delegates | ||
| to the Texas Republican Convention; in addition, it is largely | ||
| due to Mr. Wallace's effective leadership that Republicans now | ||
| hold every elected office in the county; Lampasas Republicans | ||
| have worked hard to support local and national candidates, and | ||
| Mr. Wallace was honored to be one of the delegates to nominate | ||
| George W. Bush for president at the 2000 Republican National | ||
| Convention; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Lampasas County Republican Party has hosted a | ||
| number of prominent political speakers, including governors, | ||
| United States senators, and United States representatives, and | ||
| its members have taken part in such national initiatives as the | ||
| Mighty Victory Strike Force; the organization is active in the | ||
| community through its support for the Firemen's Toy Drive and | ||
| through its scholarship program and its Annual Golf Tournament | ||
| and Picnic; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Skipper Wallace has played a vital role in the | ||
| growth and success of the Lampasas County Republican Party, and | ||
| it is truly fitting that he receive special recognition for his | ||
| excellent work; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 86th | ||
| Legislature, hereby commend B. R. "Skipper" Wallace on his | ||
| outstanding service as chair of the Lampasas County Republican | ||
| Party and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all | ||
| his endeavors; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
