| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize the Round Rock Independent School District on the grand | ||
| occasion of its 100th anniversary, which is being celebrated | ||
| throughout 2013; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Round Rock Independent School District was | ||
| established on May 17, 1913; the first education classes were | ||
| offered in 1914 and took place in a three-story building on West | ||
| Anderson Avenue; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Over the decades, numerous rural schools were | ||
| consolidated into the district; today, the district consists of | ||
| six high schools, 10 middle schools, 32 elementary schools, and | ||
| three special centers; there are 5,990 staff members and 45,741 | ||
| students; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The 51 schools in the Round Rock Independent | ||
| School District are widely recognized as first-rate institutions | ||
| with sound academic curriculums and well-disciplined, | ||
| high-achieving students; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The district has consistently aimed to provide | ||
| resources, programs, and experiences that inspire excellence in | ||
| student performance, and the students have been proud of the fine | ||
| education they have received; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Observance of the district's 100th anniversary is | ||
| an opportunity for all who have attended its schools to express | ||
| gratitude for the high standards the district upholds and the | ||
| excellent educational opportunities it provides; now, therefore, | ||
| be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, | ||
| 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the Round Rock Independent | ||
| School District on its success and its many contributions to the | ||
| Round Rock community and our state and extend best wishes to all | ||
| associated with the school on its centennial year; and, be it | ||
| further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| the district as an expression of high regard from the Texas | ||
| Senate. | ||
