| WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to | ||
| recognize Richard L. Rothfelder on the occasion of his retirement | ||
| as mayor of the City of Southside Place after many years of loyal | ||
| service to the city; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Mayor Richard Rothfelder has a long history of | ||
| service to the city and the community; he served on the Southside | ||
| Place City Council from 1993 to 1999, and he has served as mayor | ||
| since then; he is past president of the Harris County Mayors and | ||
| Councils Association and the West University Elementary School | ||
| Foundation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, He graduated with distinction in 1976 from the | ||
| University of Kansas, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and | ||
| a Summerfield Scholar; in 1979, he graduated cum laude from the | ||
| University of Houston Law School, where he served on the Houston | ||
| Law Review and the Order of the Barons; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Board certified in civil trial law by the Texas | ||
| Board of Legal Specialization since 1989, Mr. Rothfelder has | ||
| handled numerous trials and appeals in state, administrative, | ||
| and federal courts, and he has a wealth of experience in the areas | ||
| of business litigation and governmental regulation; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Richard L. Rothfelder has brought his | ||
| considerable talents to bear in his 12 years of service as mayor, | ||
| and the citizens of Southside Place will long reap the benefits | ||
| of his visionary leadership; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 82nd | ||
| Legislature, 1st Called Session, hereby commend Mayor Richard L. | ||
| Rothfelder for his exemplary public service and extend to him | ||
| best wishes for the future; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
| him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. | ||
