	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 152
	WHEREAS, The Queenish Professional Women's Club is
	presenting its second annual Southwest Writers Showcase on
	February 11, 2017, in Dallas; and

	WHEREAS, Founded in 2013, QPWC provides networking
	opportunities for area professional women through workshops, an
	annual career fair, and numerous organized discussions of
	pertinent topics; the group is also committed to promoting higher
	education through mentoring, test preparation classes, college
	tours, financial aid workshops, and a scholarship program; and

	WHEREAS, In recognition of Black History Month, the club is
	hosting the second Southwest Writers Showcase, which will bring
	together authors, poets, literary professionals, musicians, and
	spoken-word artists to highlight the vital contributions of black
	writers and to provide a forum for discussion of their work; and

	WHEREAS, The members of the Queenish Professional Women's
	Club are enriching the cultural landscape of Texas by showcasing
	the creative achievements of the African American community
	during this important occasion; now, therefore, be it

	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
	Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the organizers, participants,
	and attendees of the 2017 QPWC Southwest Writers Showcase and
	extend sincere best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable event.
