Rudolph Lazarine Olivarez | ||
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and | ||
commemorates the life of Rudolph Lazarine "Tiger" Olivarez, who | ||
died July 29, 2021, at the age of 89; and | ||
WHEREAS, Tiger Olivarez was born on November 19, 1931, in | ||
Beeville; he grew up in Corpus Christi and went on to serve the | ||
nation with distinction in the United States Air Force in the | ||
Korean War; and | ||
WHEREAS, He and his beloved wife of 59 years, Margie, were | ||
blessed with seven children, Kathy Jo, Nancy, Sharon, Judy, Betty, | ||
Cammie, and Eric; his 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren | ||
were a source of much pride and joy for him; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a lifetime member of the Pan American | ||
Golf Association, and he took great pleasure in teaching young | ||
golfers the fundamentals of the game; he won the Pan American | ||
Golf Association national championship in 1981, and he was | ||
later inducted into the organization's Hall of Fame; the First | ||
Tee Tiger Olivarez Golf and Literacy Academy was named in his | ||
honor; and | ||
WHEREAS, Tiger celebrated 41 years of sobriety and was | ||
passionate about helping others gain sobriety through the | ||
Alcoholics Anonymous program; prior to retirement, he had a | ||
successful career as a conductor for the Missouri Pacific | ||
Railroad; and | ||
WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and | ||
grandfather, and he will long be remembered for his colorful | ||
personality, his quick wit, and his commitment to service in | ||
his community; he leaves behind memories that will be | ||
cherished forever by his family and countless friends; now, | ||
therefore, be it | ||
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th | ||
Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere | ||
condolences to the bereaved family of Rudolph Lazarine Olivarez; | ||
and, be it further | ||
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for | ||
his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas | ||
Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in | ||
memory of Tiger Olivarez. | ||
